Maximino "Chimino" Vargas

May 29, 1945 — October 8, 2024

Funeral services for Maximino “Chimino” Vargas, 79, of Corrigan will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.  in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Deacon Jesus Reyes officiating. Interment will follow in Union Springs Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin.

Mr. Vargas was born May 29, 1945 in Jalisco, Mexico to the late Maria Guadalupe (Delgado) and Eulogio Vargas, and died Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in a local hospital.

Mr. Vargas had worked for Pilgrim’s Pride in Lufkin for more than 20 years. He enjoyed his job and had an incredible work ethic. He worked until his last day. He wasn’t a man with many hobbies because he was always busy spending his free time with family. He loved his Bud Light and good conversation.

He was a happy man and lived with no regrets. He lived in the moment and was very laid back. He allowed his children and grandchildren to do mostly whatever they wanted and was very caring and supportive. Mr. Vargas made friends with everyone. He always had neighbors checking on him and was loved in his community/village.

Mr. Vargas was a strong man with strong character, indelible integrity, and much wisdom. A lot of words were never needed to explain something to someone, usually just a hand gesture. He was very humble and didn’t care for extras, just the necessities.

Survivors include his children and spouses, Bonifacio Vargas, Gumercindo Vargas, Maria G. Vargas and Guillermo Corona, Asiano Vargas and Lucero Luevano, Maria L. Vargas and Miguel Santana, Armando Vargas, Margarita and Jose Martinez, Aurora Vargas, Rodrigo Vargas, and Elida Vargas; grandson, Martin Vargas; mother of his children, Margarita Rodriguez; siblings, Cruz Vargas, Socorro Rodarte, Chon Vargas, Francisca Vargas, Martin Vargas, Concepcion Vargas, and Rosario Vargas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rodrigo Vargas, Ignacio Vargas, Santos Vargas; and sister, Eulalia Vargas.

Pallbearers will be Gumercindo Vargas, Asiano Vargas, Armando Vargas, Rodrigo Vargas, Guillermo Corona, Miguel Santana, and Jose Martinez.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
