Maurice "Snuffy" Haney

Graveside services for Maurice “Snuffy” Haney, 82, of Hudson will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Redland Cemetery in Nacogdoches County with Brother John Harvey officiating.

Mr. Haney was born April 20, 1935 in the Lilbert Community of Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Ester (Christie) and Walter Haney, and died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Haney resided in Angelina County most of his life and was a “workaholic”. He retired from Texas Foundries after 28 years of service and then worked as a Forest Technician at Texas Forest Service for 14 years. Mr. Haney grew up playing baseball and as an adult he coached Little League in Lufkin and Hudson. He enjoyed tractor work and gardening, using his mules to till up the garden. Mr. Haney built a homemade wagon that was used for many trail rides. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Helen (Wade) Haney of Hudson; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Lora Haney and Terry and Renea Haney, all of Hudson; grandchildren and spouses, Bethany Hobbs and John Dorsey, Matthew and Kristen Haney, Ty and Lauren Haney, Jared and Ginny Haney, and Chance Haney; great-grandchildren; Brynn Jones, Joslyn Dorsey, Amelie Dorsey, Kielee Dorsey, Kynleigh Haney, and Brooklyn Haney; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Tommy Neal Haney; and five brothers.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Haney’s grandsons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
