Matthew Worley Lowe

Funeral services for Matthew Worley Lowe, 58, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Lufkin with Reverend Sutton Lowe and Reverend Walker McWilliams officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Lowe was born September 19, 1968 in Palestine, Texas to Jan Elaine (Worley) and Jerry Milton Lowe, and died Sunday, October 25, 2026 at MD Anderson Hospital.

Matthew graduated from Texas A&M University with undergraduate and master’s degrees. He would go on to earn his Ph.D. from Stephen F. Austin State University. Matthew was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and training dogs. He was a gifted musician. He played the guitar, wrote songs, and led worship at his church. Matthew was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Lowe of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Sutton and Marleigh Lowe of Waco; daughter and son-in-law, Rainey and Lee Scheffe of Waco; stepdaughter, Sidney Lunsford of Houston; stepson, Weston Lunsford of Lufkin; granddaughter, Lucy Lowe of Waco; father, Jerry Lowe of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Shannon Lowe of Grapevine; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tina Lowe; mother, Jan Lowe; and brother, Tucker Lowe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Scheffe, Weston Lunsford, Zach Lowe, Jake Lowe, Jerry Lowe, David Ponder, Todd Crabtree, Mark Epp, and Tim Rusk.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning prior to the services at First Baptist Church Lufkin.
