Funeral services for Mary Alyce Gilmore, 89, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Virginia Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gilmore was born January 17, 1936 in Palestine, Texas to the late Billie Louise (Holder) and William Nelson Turbyfill, Sr., and died Thursday, September 18, 2025 in a local nursing home.
Mary worked in the Engineering Department of Shell Oil, retiring after 31 years of service. She loved to play in the dirt, water ski and shop for bargains. She had a loving heart and was a true caregiver. Mary was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marvis and John Wilon of Dayton; granddaughter, Marquesa Polhans; grandson, John Creg Wilson and wife Venessa; great-grandchildren, Hayden Roachelle, Brennen Rainey Wilson, Lindsey Sapp, Andrew Arevalo, Steven Arevalo; nephew, Mike Bell and wife Cindy; nieces, Jackie Smelley, Cindy McConn; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris Rainey Gilmore; daughter, Marcia Brown; and brothers, William Turbyfill, Jr. and Jackson “Jack” Turbyfill.
Pallbearers will be John Creg Wilson, Raul Arevalo, Brennen Wilson, Hayden Roachelle, Andrew Arevalo, and Steven Arevalo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Beall and Neal Spangler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Winnie Berry Humane Society of Angelina County, 1102 N. John Redditt Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon Tuesday prior to the service.
