Mary LeAnn attended school in Oklahoma City and earned her Associates Degree as an X-ray Technician which she utilized in her early career. She moved to Texas in 1973 where she raised her children and built a life in Beaumont. She lived in Beaumont until 2003. In February 2003, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be near her daughter and enjoy the beautiful southwest. She worked as a director of marketing and executive director of an assisted living facility where she put her compassion and kindness to work every day to make residents and staff members lives better. She did this until she retired in 2011. In 2014, she returned to her adopted home state of Texas to be near family and settled in Lufkin. She formed wonderful friendships in her neighborhood and church communities. She was an avid participant in Bible studies and church groups. Mary LeAnn was very faithful in her relationship with God. She believed in the promise of eternal life and enjoyed reading her Bible on a daily basis, spending time in prayer and gathering with friends for Bible studies.
Mary LeAnn loved nature whether it was her flowers, being in the Colorado Rockies, or sitting on her favorite porch at Toledo Bend Lake. She was passionate about animals and passed this trait on to both of her children. She was rarely without her constant companion, Leo, a 10-pound apricot Yorki-Poo who she referred to as her “Fair-haired Golden Child”. She equally loved her two Labs mixes, Rabbit and Callie and her “grand-dogs” Smidge, Winnie, Odie, Buddy and Buska. Several times a year, she gave refuge and training to foster animals who would then find their way on to forever homes.
Mary LeAnn will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Her loving spirit and faithfulness were a shining light in the world of all who knew her. There will be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin, Texas.
