Martha Ann Rains Watson

Funeral services for Martha Ann Rains Watson, 78, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Roger Fancher officiating. Interment will follow in Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Martha Watson was born January 27, 1946 in Center, Texas to the late Delvin (Parrish) and L.C. Rains, and died Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in Lufkin.

Martha was a member of Bald Hill Baptist Church for many years and loved the Lord. Many of her fond memories were with J.W., her husband of 64 years, square dancing with the Lufkin Pine Squares Club and camping on the Attoyac River. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, J.W. Watson; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Watson of Round Rock, and Eric and Kim Watson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Anna and James; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Peggy Rains of Huntington; brother-in-law, Craig Robertson of Thorsby, Alabama; special friend Joyce Vann; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Roy Williams, Deboraha and Charlie Murphy, and Lisha “Shorti” and Forrest Hammock; and sisters, Clara Oden and Linda Robertson.

Pallbearers will be Luther Rains, Chuck Mann, Frank Green, Joe Allen, Jr., Tony Rains, and Chris Haschke.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Kennedy Health & Rehab and Gentiva Hospice, who helped Martha at the end of her life.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
