Funeral services for Martha Sue (Williams) Alexander, 80, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bobby Johnson and Brother Mark Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mrs. Alexander was born May 6, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Maxine (Hall) and Lowell “Red” Williams, and died Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in a local nursing home.
Martha was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. She had known Charles Alexander since she was six years old. They were elementary sweethearts, who later became high school sweethearts, and then became lifetime sweethearts when they married. Martha worked as a Tax Preparer and Office Manager for Ken Smith CPA for many years. Even after she retired, she continued preparing taxes for her family and friends until the age of 79. She loved to read and usually read two to three books a week and she was a devout crossword puzzle solver. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and served as Church Treasurer for more than 10 years. Martha will be truly missed by all who were blessed to have her in their life and her granddaughters will remember her as being the “hip granny”!
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Greg Korn of Huntington; granddaughters and spouses, Jessica and Joshua Senn, Cassidy and Blaze Miller, Grace and Hunter McMillon, all of Huntington; great-grandchildren, twins, Hayden and Brenden Senn, Camden Senn, Caddo Miller, Kora Miller, Charles Sonny Miller, Lizzie McMillon, River McMillon, all of Huntington; sisters, Georgia Bradberry, Judy Carter, both of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Pat Shoemaker and husband Hershel of Lufkin, Judy Nelson and husband Robert of Irving, Kathy Griffin of Irving; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years in 2015, Charles Lamar Alexander; and son, Charles “Charley” Alexander in 1983.
Pallbearers will be Leon Bridges, Hershel Shoemaker, Philip Shoemaker, Joshua Senn, Blaze Miller, and Hunter McMillon.
The family would like to express a very special thanks to the staff at Castle Pines Health and Rehabilitation and Affinity Hospice.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
