Marquetta "Maggie" Hudson

Funeral services for Maggie Hudson, 82, of Huntington will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Jordan Riley and Brother Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hudson was born December 11, 1942 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Okla Verl (Williams) and B.R. Keeney, and died Saturday, September 20 2025 in a local hospice facility.

Although Maggie did not personally serve in the military, she followed her husband, C.W., all over while he served in the Army. They settled in Huntington, Texas in 1981. She owned and operated “Maggie’s Cedar Works” making cedar rocking chairs. She received her GED in 1989 and always said she and her daughter, Becky, graduated the same year. She was a member of the Jolly Seniors Sunday School Class at Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Colette Hudson of Moody, Texas, Scott and Lisa Hudson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Doug and Angie Hudson of Livingston, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Mitzi and Jeff Smith of Apple Springs, Texas, Becky Adams of Huntington, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; special friends, Faye Jones and Wanda Hall; her pet, Eddie, who was her special companion who always listened and never talked back; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, C.W. Hudson; son-in-law, Gary Adams; brothers, Harry Keeney, Roy Keeney; sisters, Lila Greenberg, Okla Ann Holcomb, and her pet, Buddy, who was spoiled, but was her constant companion.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kenneth Hudson, Matt Hudson, Zach Hudson, Jeff Rushing, Chris Smith, Jim Smith, Jeremy Smith, Nathan Smith, Stephen Hudson, Aeden Hudson, Chris Wilson, Edwin Hudson, Justice Adams, and Colton Adams.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
