Mark Lloyd Nichols

November 2, 1951 — August 16, 2024

Mark Lloyd Nichols, 72, of Dickinson, Texas was called to be reunited with his parents and sister on Friday August 16, 2024 in a League City Hospital. He was born on November 2, 1951 in Zwolle, Louisiana to the late Marvin and Elsie (Ulery) Nichols. He attended Huntington High School and during his senior year he joined the United States Army. Mr. Nichols was a Master Mason with the Zavalla Masonic Lodge #1263 A.F. & A.M. and a lifelong member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin, Texas.

To know Mark Nichols was to truly know an incredible person. After his first granddaughter was born, a nickname eventually became his only name “Pappy.” Pappy was the epitome of unconditional love. He cared so much for those around him and was always there for you when you needed him. He loved his farm in Zavalla, Texas that he shared with his loving wife Cynthia, also known as Mammy. Even though he retired as a Project Manager, he was always a farmer at heart. He loved spending time on the farm with Mammy, his daughters, grandchildren, and friends. He also enjoyed going to the deer lease with his grandsons. Christmas was also something he enjoyed greatly because he was able to give to all those whom he loved and cherished. Even though Pappy was a cowboy on the outside, he was a big teddy bear on the inside. He was intelligent and one of the best story tellers of his time. Although we have lost a great man, we know his love and resilience for his family and friends will carry on with us through every Hank Williams, Jr. song you hear, to seeing cows in a random pasture, to that comfort feeling of knowing everything is going to be alright because Pappy is with us in spirit. Although we have lost him on this Earth, we have all gained a one of kind guardian angel.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Cynthia (Hanson) Nichols; daughters, Michelle Lee Bolding and husband Christopher, and Carissa Marie Nichols Cox and husband Ronald; grandchildren, Triniti Moore, Mark Moore and Lacey, Tammy Bledsoe, Chelsie Nichols, Carter Cox, and Grayson Cox; great-granddaughter, Vivian Moore; sisters, Patricia Rocha and Janet Glover and husband Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elsie Nichols; and sister, Rebecca Teichmann.
