Marjorie Laws White

Graveside services for Marjorie Laws White, 95, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with The Reverend Randall K. Green officiating. The family will welcome friends and loved ones at Marjorie’s home, at 5 Runyan Court in Lufkin, immediately following the services.

Mrs. White was born December 9, 1928 in Houston, Texas to the late Beatrice (Ingrum) and Jennings Blackwell Laws, and died Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at her home.

Marjorie had resided in Lufkin most of her life. She attended Southwestern University and Stephen F. Austin State University to become a teacher. She taught 9th grade mathematics for 33 years in Lufkin ISD until her retirement in 1992. She volunteered at the Mosaic Center and Woodland Heights Medical Center gift shop and was a member of the Angelina Retired Teachers and School Personnel, Historical and Literary Club, and several Bridge Clubs. Marjorie loved being with people, especially family and friends. She enjoyed different hobbies at various stages in her life, such as sewing, painting, keeping the yard, playing bridge, games, and traveling. Marjorie was a Charter member of Christ Congregational Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Knott and husband Gordon of Houston; grandson, Kevin Knott and wife Lisa of Katy; granddaughter, Katie Hathorn and husband Scott of Humble; great-grandchildren, Addison Knott, Cooper Knott, Colt Hathorn, Dylan Hathorn; and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
