Marjorie Leona Douglas

Memorial services with military honors for Marjorie Leona Douglas, 84, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with her daughter, Mary Carstens, officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Douglas was born January 8, 1938 in Vail, Iowa to the late Helen (Schweiso) and Harry Kral, and died Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her residence. She had resided in Lufkin for 27 years.

Mrs. Douglas was a Registered Nurse who served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 as a Captain in the Army Nurse Corps. She later worked at Darnell Army Hospital at Fort Hood as a civilian RN for many years. She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas Douglas of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and John Carstens of Dickinson; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Douglas of Arlington, Douglas Scott Douglas of Lexington, Kentucky, and Brandon Craig and Susan Douglas of Simpsonville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Sarah Douglas, Candace Sonoski, Alyssa Douglas, Bethany Thomas, and Courtney Bunch; three great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Janis; and a number of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
