Funeral services for Marie “Granny Rie” Bishop Haskins, 101, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating. Private interment will be at Kilgore City Cemetery.
Ms. Haskins was born January 4, 1925 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late Oma (Mathis) and Jess Howard, and died Wednesday, August 5, 2026 in Lufkin.
She was a 1942 graduate of Kilgore High School, Kilgore, Texas, and attended business school following graduation. She worked at Camp Fannin in Tyler which is now a part of the University of Texas. Ms. Haskins moved to Lufkin in 1962.
Ms. Haskins was a homemaker her entire adult life and the best cook in East Texas (ask any family member), especially her chocolate pie. She was fiercely independent x 100 million!! She loved playing games and was a world traveler. She was always the driver when going on trips with “the girls”. Ms. Haskins had a great sense of humor and loved joking around with people.
She was a member of Carpenter’s Way Church and a former member of the Pilot Club, Livewell, Cut-n-Grow Garden Club, and TNT at Carpenters Way.
Survivors include her daughter, Julia Haskins Luedtke; sons, David Howard Haskins and wife Dixie, and Joe Rodney Haskins and wife Renee; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepsons, Kenneth Wayne Haskins and Glenn Hayden Haskins; great-granddaughter, Zoe Haskins; numerous aunts and uncles; and her best friend of 78 years, Lillie Tullos.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
