Marie Griggs Ford

Funeral services for Marie Griggs Ford, 79, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Cowart officiating. A private family burial will follow.

Mrs. Ford was born April 24, 1938 in Huntington, Texas to the late Carrie (Hines) and Lloyd Griggs, and died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Ford was a lifetime resident of Angelina County and a proud Hudson Hornet, Class of 1956. She worked in the Business Office at CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial for 30 years. Mrs. Ford enjoyed visiting and traveling, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her fur babies, Susie and Trixie, were great company for her. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Amy Ford of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and David Baker of Birmingham, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Toni Ford of Center; grandsons, Blake Ford and wife Megan of Tomball, Gentry Ford of Lufkin, Dakoda Ford of Birmingham, Alabama, Jack Ford and wife Emily of Timpson, Zack Baker, Kyle Baker, both of Birmingham, Alabama, Joshua Ford of Lufkin, and Christopher Ford of Tomball; granddaughter, Carrie Ford of Center; great-granddaughters, Brylee Ford of Timpson and Keily Ford of Tomball; expected great-grandson, Cy Ford of Timpson; brother, Sammie Griggs of Baytown; aunt, Doris Griggs of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Russell Ford, Sr.; son, Gerald Lloyd “Jerry” Ford; and sister, Trevelyn Luce.
Pallbearers will be Tommie Griggs, Gentry Ford, Blake Ford, Jack Ford, Art Bullock, and Dakoda Ford.

The family extends special thanks to Michelle Bullock, Marilyn Griggs, and Hospice in the Pines for their care of Mrs. Ford.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
