Maria Guadalupe Miranda Joslen

September 13, 1942 — June 7, 2024

Maria Guadalupe Miranda Joslen was born to J.J. Miranda and Rosa Miranda on September 13, 1942 in Diboll, Texas. Maria peacefully left this world on June 7, 2024 in her home, surrounded by family.

The Miranda family relocated from Fastrill, Texas to Diboll with Temple Industries. Born the ninth child of twelve, she often teased that "the best were the last five who were born in Diboll!" She was known as Marie to most, Aunt Chita or Ree to some and Peach to few. Marie was a lifelong resident of Diboll. She graduated from Diboll High School in 1962. While working as a waitress at the Pine Bough Restaurant in Diboll, she met her husband, Leo. They were married on March 17, 1972 only to be separated by his passing on May 3, 1999. Leona Marie Joslen was born to Leo and Marie on October 27, 1976. Their precious daughter was not destined to be of this world so the love that Marie had for her child was poured into every soul who was fortunate enough to know her.

After her husband's passing, Marie worked in home health caring for others with the most compassionate of hearts. Marie was the essence of love and possessed a true Christian heart. She was the quiet support that never judged. Marie had a love that felt like home, she always "showed up" for the ones she loved.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her  daughter, Leona Marie; and her parents, J.J. and Rosa Miranda. Also, by her siblings, Marina, Isadore, Alfredo, Rose Marie, Matilda, Joe, Frank, John, Elvira, Jose Jesus II, Sofia and Virgina; as well as many other family members. What a reunion that must be!

Left to cherish her memory and continue her story are her sisters, Frances Miranda Rodriguez and Carmen Miranda of Diboll. Also, special niece, Lisa Miranda DeJesus of Diboll, who she considered a daughter. Marie leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and dear friends, each of whom she loved immensely.

Marie never sought the spotlight during her life, and she did not wish attention after death. As she wished, we will not hold a formal funeral. Our family will celebrate her life with food, fellowship and memories of Marie and all of the others who have gone before us on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Temple House in Diboll. All who loved her are welcome to join us.

Marie was a member of First Baptist Church in Diboll and we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Ben Merritt who attended to our grief the night of her passing by offering his presence and his unwavering support and prayers. We would like to acknowledge the support received by Hospice in the Pines, who enabled us to bring Marie home in her last days. Also, thank you to the professionalism and compassion extended by Carroway as Marie left her home for the final time. Our hearts are broken, but those broken hearts are a testament to the fierce love that we have for our precious one and we rejoice that she is restored in the Lord. When we hear the flutter of Hummingbird wings or hear the song of a Cardinal, pick up a silver dime or draw the "my star" card from the Loteria deck, we will be comforted with a love that will transcend the ages. "You will always be in my heart because there, you are still alive."
