Maria Del Refugio Castaneda

Mass of Christian Burial for Marìa del Refugio Castañeda, 77, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Guillermo Gabriel-Maisonet officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Castañeda was born September 12, 1942 in Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico to the late Socorro (Duròn) and Jorge Castañeda, and died Friday, June 5, 2020 in a local hospital.

She had resided in Lufkin for over 43 years. She loved her family and spent her time being a homemaker and taking care of them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Mrs. Castañeda was a faithful member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Delfina Venegas, Concepciòn Venegas, Victoria Venegas, all of Cleveland, Josè Venegas and wife Angelia, Norma Hernàndez and husband Felipe, Ana Gonzàlez and husband Arturo, all of Lufkin, San Juanita Peña and husband Alejandro of Katy; 35 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Martin Venegas and Antonio Venegas; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Josue Venegas, Felipe Hernàndez, Jr., Eric Castañeda Peña, Alejandro Peña, Felipe Hernàndez, Arturo Gonzàlez, Antonio Venegas, and Santiago Venegas.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
