Margaret Thomas

Funeral services for Margaret Thomas, 90, of Lufkin will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Don Lofton officiating. Interment will follow in the Narrow Way Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born August 24, 1933 in Panola County, Texas to the late Alice (Hill) and Thomas Orlander Jones, and died Thursday, November 30, 2023 in a local facility.

Margaret  resided in Hudson for the last 66 years. She worked at the Lufkin Post Office for 26 years and also at Angelina Federal Employees Credit Union. She was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and Margaret was a member of Wallace Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Sharon Thomas of Lufkin; grandsons and their spouses, Jeremy and Donna Thomas, Jeff and Michelle Thomas, Jason Thomas; great-grandchildren, Ethan Thomas, Katelynn Thomas, Hailey Thomas, Matthew Thomas; sister, Beatrice (Jones) Maddox; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Buddy Van Thomas; son, Gary Van Thomas, grandson, Brian D. Thomas, great-grandson, Landen Cole Thomas; brothers, Monnie T. Jones, Elmer D. Jones, Edmund Jones, Andrew Jones, Hubert Jones, Travis Jones, James Jones; and sister, Estelle (Jones) Sells.

Pallbearers will be Joe Kelly, Kenneth Hammack, Jeremy Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Ethan Thomas, and Little Joe Kelly.

The family would like to express special thanks to Castle Pines, Elite Home Health, and Affinity Hospice for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the service.
