Marcia G. Read

Funeral services for Marcia G. Read, 85, of Nacogdoches will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Sevar officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Read was born June 23, 1938 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lola Marie (Forsythe) and Alvin Leo Lane. She died on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Read was the oldest of four children. She was primarily a housekeeper and mom. She would sew and cook for her family. She had a love for singing, whether at home or in church. Mrs. Read was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, and participated in the Golden Agers, the adult choir, and Joyful Sound. She was also a member of the Renewal Sunday school class.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Coy E. Read of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie C. and Brian Hall of Nacogdoches; son, Coy L. “Buddy” Read of Nacogdoches; grandchildren and spouses, Alicia and David Moss of Nacogdoches, James and Ashley Hall of Lufkin, Chelsea and Jason Flack of Houston, Alex and Rusty Bonner of Lufkin, and Sara and Torrey Hendricks of Rosevine; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pete Lane, James “PeeWee” Lane, and Norma Selby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be James Hall, David Moss, Jason Read, Rusty Bonner, Jason Flack, and Torrey Hendricks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Moss and Men of the Renewal Class.

The family would like to thank the following for their care of mom: Peggy Gilder, Melanie Rojo, Margaret Mahoney, and Gina Reed. We would also like to thank a special friend, Jennifer Miles, for her loving and gentle care of mom. You’re an angel!

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon prior to the services.
