Lynn George

Funeral services for Lynn George, 77, of Zavalla will be held Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church with Brother John Boone and Brother Jackson Colwell officiating. Interment will follow in the McNiel Cemetery.

Mr. George was born February 10, 1942 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Dora (Rogers) and Condy George, and died Friday, June 21, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. George was a lifelong resident of Zavalla. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He owned and operated George Service Station for over 30 years and was Commissioner for Angelina County Precinct 4 for eight years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and he loved his family first and foremost. Mr. George was a member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dora Jean George of Zavalla; daughters, Tammy Dickinson and Kelly DuPree and husband William, all of Zavalla; grandchildren, Mason DuPree and wife Matty of Lufkin, Kailyn DuPree, Josiah Dickinson, and Jaela Dickinson, all of Zavalla; sister, Eva Boulware of Zavalla; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Bernice Rhodes and Maurice Kinner.

Pallbearers will be William DuPree, Mason DuPree, Josiah Dickinson, Cliff Boulware, Tim Almand, and Mike Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Cox, George Grimes, Marvin Schurmann, Marvin Best, and Randy Kirkland.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
