Lynda "Sue" Butler

November 25, 1942 — December 6, 2023

Memorial graveside services for Lynda “Sue” Butler, 81, of Hudson will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Largent Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Butler was born November 25, 1942 in Orange, Texas to the late Nellie Mellissa (Eason) and Julius Steve Christopher, and died Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in a local nursing home. She retired as Head Teller from Huntington State Bank following over 40 years employment in the banking industry.

Mrs. Butler was an awesome mother and stepmother to the kids. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She was a quiet person and was sweet to everyone, even though she wanted to kill the kids daddy sometimes! She was a simple lady who enjoyed her coffee, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and the company of everyone around her. And she loved her cats!

Mrs. Butler came into the lives of her stepchildren at a difficult time and was nothing but a blessing for the family from the time she became a part of it. She was the best mom anyone could ask for.

Her singing and music will be missed dearly. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and sang in church choirs nearly all her life. and even roamed the halls in her wheelchair at Parkwood still singing, to everyone’s delight.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Tim Taylor, and Glenda Wilcox; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Christopher; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mewbourn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jesse and Sherry Butler; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Perry Goodin; niece, Kelley Zeleskey; nephews, Neal McGilvra and Chris McGilvra; and a number of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, Tommie Butler; daughter, Donna Mayberry; grandson, Clinton Hill; sister, Frances McGilvra; and brother, Roby Christopher.
