Lynda Lou Alpenfels

Memorial services for Lynda Lou Alpenfels, 78, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kyle Childress officiating. A reception will follow in the Carroway Family Reception Room. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Ms. Alpenfels was born April 18, 1939 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Carrie Bell (Jordan) and Alton Strickland, and died Sunday, April 15, 2018 in Nacogdoches.

Ms. Alpenfels had resided in the East Texas area all of her life. She was a Special Education Vocation Counselor at Lufkin ISD where she worked for 30 years. She thoroughly enjoyed being on the golf course and she loved spending time with family and visiting with friends. Ms. Alpenfels attended First Christian Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Deidra Harrison and Terry Pounds of Nacogdoches and Karri “Kim” Brashear and husband Ken of Temple; son, Donald S. Dennis and wife Anna of Houston; grandchildren, Jessica and Chad Currie of San Angelo, Lyndsey Harrison of Nacogdoches, Kandis Brashear and Jordan Brashear, both of Temple, and Nathan Garcia of Houston; great-grandchildren, Caden, Lane, Grayson Currie, Mason Staudt, and Payton Fonzie; niece, Carrie Strickland, nephew, Patrick and wife Lori Strickland and their children Shiloh and Riley; extended family, Lara Bounds, Lynn and Mark Hopper, Leah, Brent, and Maggie Grider, Jonah Campbell, Anthony and Ajia Staudt, Addisyn Fonzie, and Joy Richards; and numerous cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Al Strickland.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Joseph Scamardo, and the staff at Stallings Court and Harbor Hospice.
