Lula Mae Johnson Day

Funeral services for Lula Mae Johnson Day, 78, of Dickinson, formerly of Lufkin, will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Day was born January 28, 1946 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Johnnie Bernice (Loving) and Elbert Lee Johnson, and died Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Day retired as Office Manager from Suntrac Services in League City following 20 years of employment. She enjoyed cooking and gambling trips. Mrs. Day was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was her first priority, and she will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Raymond Day of Dickinson; son, Raymond M. Day of Dickinson; daughter, Doris “Sissy” Swafford and husband Kevin of Porum, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Bridget Day-Torres, Allen Goekler, Billy Ryan Day, Lauren Goekler, and Paula Cooper; five great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Johnson of Santa Fe; sister, Joyce Davis of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Billy P. Day; and brothers, Norris “Pete” Johnson, Raymond L. Johnson, and Robert L. Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kopecinski, Billy R. Day, Eddie McNeil, Nick Day-Torres, Donald Davis, and John Johnson.

The family extends special thanks to their wonderful friends and neighbors as well as the staff of North Star Hospice for all the love and care that was extended to Lula.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
