Lugene Keels

Funeral services for Anna Lugene Haden Keels, 61, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Brother Steve Cowart, Dr. Lester Hutson, and Brother Robert Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.

Lugene was born November 7, 1962 in Lufkin, Texas to Lillian Geneva (Franklin) and Glenn Armstrong, and died Monday, August 26, 2024 at The Joseph House.

Lugene was a savvy entrepreneur. She owned her own salon, “Haircuts Plus”, and was an excellent hairdresser. She opened another business, H&H Cleaning and Floor Maintenance, and operated it for more than 20 years. She was a hard worker with an amazing work ethic. Lugene loved her personal fitness and was also a fitness instructor. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Lugene always had a love for showmanship, having participated in several plays during high school and playing the alto saxophone in the band. She loved to sing in church, and even auditioned for America’s Got Talent.

Lugene was full of life and had a vivacious, infectious personality. She was friendly to everyone she met and was very social, keeping friendships alive that may have otherwise died due to time or distance. She loved going to the movies and always had to get popcorn. She was a dog lover and was devoted to her Shih Tzus and Chihuahuas. She was a loving grandmother, known as “Lolly”. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff Keels of Lufkin; children and spouses, Savannah and Eric Burkett of Burke, Alec and Kathy Haden of Lufkin, Colin Keels of Conroe, Jacob Haden of Lufkin, and Gracie Keels of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Kyle Havard, Truman Black, Elika Black, and Ainsley Campbell; mother, Lillian Armstrong; brother and sister-in-law, Riley and Joy Armstrong; niece, Kaitlyn Armstrong; and a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Armstrong.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Haden, Alec Haden, Aaron Blanco, Kyle Havard, Rod Keels, and Riley Armstrong.

Honorary pallbearer will be Savannah Burkett.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
