Memorial services for Loyd Earl Richardson, 92, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at PineCrest Retirement Community with Reverend Randall Green officiating. Private graveside services will be held in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mr. Richardson was born March 4, 1926 in Alto, Texas, to Fronye (McLeroy) and Robert P. Richardson, and died Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Lufkin.
Loyd was retired from Champion Paper Mill. He was the Director of Human Resources for 30 years. He was a graduate of Wells High School and graduated from the University of Texas in 1950. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He has been a member of the Wells Masonic Lodge since 1949, past member of the Lufkin Rotary Club, and served on numerous local boards. Loyd was a member of Falvey United Methodist Church for many years, taught the Fellowship Sunday School class and served in numerous other capacities. He served on the Wells City Council and the Cherokee County Historical Society. He was responsible for getting numerous historical markers placed in the Wells and lower Cherokee County area. He was a volunteer for CISC for many years. He is a member of Christ Congregational Church of Lufkin.
Loyd enjoyed preserving history, volunteering and gardening. First and foremost, he loved his family. He and his wife currently reside at PineCrest Retirement Community.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eloise Brazil Richardson; sons, Michael Richardson and wife Tammy of Lebanon, Tennessee and Paul Richardson and wife Beth of Kingwood; granddaughter, Christy Richardson Riley and husband Nick and great-granddaughter, Kelsey of Pearland; grandsons, Tommy Richardson and wife Jessica of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Matthew Richardson of Austin; sister-in-law, Christene Richardson of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim, Robert, Johnny, Joe Mack, and Tommy; and sister, Mary Alice.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
