Funeral services for Lowell A. Reid, 94, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.
Mr. Reid was born June 16, 1924 in Shady Grove, Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Ella (Arthur) and Wilbur Olen Reid, and died Sunday, January 20, 2019 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Reid was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and a POW. He retired from The Lufkin Daily News after 32 years of employment as a printer. Mr. Reid was a faithful member of Redland Baptist Church where he served in several different capacities. He enjoyed playing his guitar and loved watching the Texas Rangers.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Leshia Reid of Nacogdoches; daughter-in-law, Debbie Reid of Lufkin; grandchildren, Steven Reid, Amanda Martinez, Dr. Nicole Thurston, and Jonathan Reid; step-grandchildren, Brandon Ruby, Seth Ruby, and Amber Ruby; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friends, Lou and Denny, Karen, and Nelda.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Reid; son, Mike Reid, stepson, Riley Ruby; and brother, Sid Reid.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Reid, Richard Martinez, Denny Kio, Terry Allen, Don Rudy Allen, and Brandon Ruby.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the services.
