Funeral services for Louise Dee (Sweetser) Eddings, 96, of Lufkin will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim Brewer, Brother Bennie Boles, and Jason Purke officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.
Mrs. Eddings was born November 2, 1922 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Margie (Fore) and Albert Lee Sweetser, and died Friday, April 26, 2019 at her residence.
Mrs. Eddings had resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was the owner of Eddings Grocery in Redland and Eddings Drilling Company, but the most important job in her life was being a mother. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, having a vegetable and flower garden. She especially loved working in her flower beds. Other hobbies and talents included sewing, quilting, embroidery and stitching. Mrs. Eddings was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jerry and Noel Eddings of Chireno, Jeannine and Fred Phillips of Huntington, Margie Simms, Joe Ed and Leigh Anne Eddings, and Margaret and Lawrence Purke, all of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Patrick and Melissa Eddings, Vickie and Paul Emmons, Bennie and Debbie Boles, Bud and Kelli Boles, Bobby and Christina Boles, Janice Miller, Rhonda and Michael Aldrich, Ronnie Lee and Ashley Simms, Katrenia and Wayne Rhoton, Shone and Laura Eddings, Christine Eddings, Jessica and Kyle Foree, Kelly Jo Gonzalez, Jason and Marie Purke, and Matthew and Sophie Purke; 30 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mattie Sweetser of Nacogdoches; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Eddings, Sr.; sons, Calvin Lee Eddings and Lloyd Eddings, Jr.; brothers, Buford Sweetser, Oscar Sweetser, Perry Sweetser, and RV Sweetser; and great-granddaughter, Casey Boles.
Pallbearers will be Bennie Boles, Patrick Eddings, Bud Boles, Bobby Boles, Shone Eddings, Ronnie Lee Simms, Jason Purke, and Matthew Purke.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Pat, Chelsea, Elsia, Alma, the staff of Hospice in the Pines, and all others who cared for her – we love you with all of our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or Harmony Cemetery Association, 17617 N. US Highway 59, Garrison, Texas 75946.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
