Lou Ellen Canter Johnson

Lou Ellen Canter Johnson, 56, of Livingston died Friday, April 17, 2026 in a Lufkin hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Lou was born June 20, 1969 in Houston, Texas to Dorothia Marie (Chatham) and Vernon Daniel Canter, Sr.

Lou had resided in Stinnett, Texas prior to moving to Livingston seven years ago. She loved her family and took pride in caring for them, but her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Lou was a spirited and hardworking woman who enjoyed gardening and yard work.

Survivors include her partner, Michael Robbins of Livingston; daughters, Ashley Dezell and husband Chris of Stinnett, Martha Leslie Johnson and fiancé Cory Tanner of Amarillo; son, Dakota Hanson and wife Cheyenne of Fritch; daughter, Kayla Hanson and fiancé Tristen Sherwood of Canton; brother, Vernon Daniel Canter, Jr. and wife Kim of Llano; sisters, Marshia Thompson and husband John of Baytown, Terry Manuel and husband Harold of Beach City; brother, Louis Marshall Canter, Sr. and wife Beth of Kerrville; brother-in-law, Bobby Crawford; ten grandchildren; ex-husband, Dennis Scott Johnson of Borger; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; sister, Cynthia Kay Crawford, and father of her children, Tony Hanson.
