Memorial services for Lorraine Jordan, 96, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Stephen B. Lantis officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mrs. Jordan was born April 26, 1920 in Hastings on the Hudson, New York to the late William and Ethel Noon, and went to be with our Lord Friday, April 6, 2017 in a Lufkin Skilled Care Retirement Home. Mrs. Jordan worked most of her life raising four children virtually on her own. She was especially proud of being crowned “Miss Hobokon of 1938” and Miss Congeniality, always smiling no matter what. She went to high school in Hobokon with Frank Sinatra and she married one of his classmates. She often spoke of Hobokon. One of her fondest times in life was attending First Christian Church. Lorraine never met a stranger, and had a vibrant personality. She met every challenge head on and adjectives attached to her were feisty, tough, “a hoot”, “tells it like it is” – you get the picture – and of course everyone commented on her “YANKEE accent” – “JOISEY GIRL”. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Smelley and husband Eddie of Lufkin; son, William Labrosse of Lufkin; daughter, Gail Tsamasiotis and husband Nick of New Jersey; son, John Labrosse “The Honorable Mayor of Hackensack, New Jersey” and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Jeffrey Thomas of Lufkin, Dean and Jennifer Thomas of San Diego, California; Kim Dadamo of New Jersery, Perry Dadamo of New Jersey, Jason Labrosse of Chicago, Illinois, Douglas Fleming of New Jersey, Ellen and Shawn Koehler of New Jersey, Justin and Kristi Labrosse of New Jersey, and Christopher and Tara Labrosse of New Jersey; step-grandchildren, Stephen and Lee Ann Smelley, Nancy and Paul Almquist, and Adam and Kristina Smelley; great-grandchildren, Jaslyne Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Wyatt Thomas, Amy Rae Dadamo, Zachery Dadamo, Joshua Koehler, Delaney Koehler, Samuel Koehler, Emily Labrosse, Justin “J.J.” Labrosse, Shane Labrosse, Ava Labrosse, Michael Labrosse, Andrew Labrosse, Dallas Smelley, Elodee Smelley, Ghent Smelley, Sophia Smelley, Mark and Mackenzie Almquist, Timothy and Emma Almquist and Andrew Almquist; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Labrosse and Herbert Jordan; sister, Shirley Felice; nephew, Robert Felice; and aunt and uncle, Edward and Helen Widmayer. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Lufkin, 1300 S. First Street, Lufkin, Texas, 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
