Linda Marie Simms Selman

Graveside services for Linda Marie Simms Selman, 82, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Berry Cemetery with Pastor Steve Cowart officiating.

Mrs. Selman was born July 6, 1941 at home in the Allentown Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Augusta (Garrett) and Jewel Harrison Simms, and died Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Selman was a graduate of Central High School. She played basketball and was on the winning State Championship team in 1959, her senior year. She retired from Beall’s Department Store after many years. She loved helping her family and friends when they came into the store. Mrs. Selman was married to Spencer Carroll Selman for 58 years.

Mrs. Selman so loved cooking her chocolate and coconut pies, and she was always sewing for her family and friends. She was a past member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 30 years and was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church. She was saved in 1966 and taught Sunday school classes for many years, which she loved doing.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Clayton Wallace of Lufkin; son, Clayton Selman of Dallas; grandchildren, Mathew Wallace and wife Mikayla, Joseph Wallace and wife Megan, Casey Wallace and wife McKayla, Jacob Wallace, all of Lufkin, and Kristi Selman of Conroe; great-grandchildren, Mattison Wallace, Lane Wallace, Tinley Wallace, Rhett Wallace, Rhemy Wallace, Ryder Wallace, Ryker Wallace, Ryver Wallace, Katelyn Conner, and Brody; brother, Jerry Simms and wife Jackie; sister-in-law, Doris Simms; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many more relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Spencer Selman; son, Stephen Selman, Sr.; grandson, Stephen Selman, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Fred Howell; brother, Jimmy Simms; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Simms; and sister, Geraldine Simms.

Pallbearers will be Matt Wallace, Joseph Wallace, Casey Wallace, Jacob Wallace, Rhett Wallace, and Lane Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rhemy Wallace, Ryder Wallace, and Ryker Wallace.

The family extends special thanks to Parkwood in the Pines and Hospice in the Pines for their care of Mrs. Selman.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
