Linda King

Funeral services for Linda King, 79, of Zavalla will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Zavalla First Baptist Church with Brother Stephen Forrest and Dr. Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. King was born September 15, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Jane (Williams) and Robert Green, and died Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in a Houston hospital.

Mrs. King was a lifetime resident of Zavalla and retired from the purchasing department of Lufkin Industries. She was a member of Zavalla First Baptist Church.

Linda spent many nights sewing matching Easter dresses for her three daughters and their Barbie dolls. She was a member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers. She was a prior Sunday School teacher and VBS director at Zavalla First Baptist Church and was a founding member and past President of Zavalla Area Ministries. Linda was a Master Gardener and loved growing and sharing plants and flowers. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren who dearly loved their Nana. Linda was a bright light in every room she walked into and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James King of Zavalla; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa King of Zavalla, Coni and Justin Drinkard of Burke, and Kelly King-Corbin and Daryl Corbin of Seabrook; grandchildren and spouses, Adren and Stefanie Anglin, Regan and Dustin Rash, Caleb and Cheri Rader, Derek and Ariel Mundy, Meagan and Josh Parks, Halie and Homar Olivarez, and Macie Drinkard; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brothers, Greg Green and Kerry Green, both of Buna; brother-in-law, Rodney King of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Larry Green and Bobby Green.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ZAM Outreach, 1043 E. Main Street, Zavalla, Texas 75980 or the Youth Department at Zavalla First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 73, Zavalla, Texas 75980.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the church prior to the services.
