Linda Joan Courtney

Funeral services for Linda Joan Courtney, 81, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in Dunk Havard Cemetery.

Mrs. Courtney was born August 4, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Leona (Grimes) and Jesse Christian, and died Monday, October 20, 2025 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Courtney was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a lifelong love for flowers and gardening, and her grandchildren fondly remember helping her harvest tomatoes and jalapeños, and watching the hummingbirds that visited her garden. She adored animals, especially her beloved chow dogs, who were constant companions through the years. Linda also loved to quilt, read, and fill her home with the sound of gospel music - often played loud enough for all the neighbors to share in her joy and faith.

A talented home cook, she was known for her zucchini fritters, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and hearty pot roast. She loved to eat almost as much as she loved to cook, and her kitchen was always a place of laughter, warmth, and family.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Robert Inman of Lufkin; son, Jesse Courtney of Lufkin; grandchildren, Robert Anthony Inman and wife Portia, Marlinda Ariel Inman, Jesse “J.J.” Courtney, Jr., Devin Courtney, Curtis Cotton III, Steven Courtney, and Billie Rae-Ann Courtney; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Noida Lopez of College Station; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Margaret Angela Courtney; brother, Charlie Christian; and grandchild, Mikey Courtney.

Pallbearers will be Robert Dale Inman, Robert Anthony Inman, Richard Lopez, Jimmy Inman, Richard Lopez, Jr., J.J. Courtney, and Jesse Courtney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Courtney and Curtis Cotton III.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the services.
