Lillie Jo Branton

Graveside services for Lillie Jo Branton, 86, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rock Springs Cemetery, 2767 County Road 809, Nacogdoches, with Robert Warren officiating.

Mrs. Branton was born July 3, 1935 in the Trawick Community of Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Audrey Beatrice (Box) and Lavane Reed Wright, and died Monday, September 20, 2021 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Branton resided in Lufkin most of her life. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and was an elementary teacher at Lufkin ISD for 41 years. She was interested in genealogy and enjoyed working in her yard and growing flowers. She was a member of the DRT. Mrs. Branton was a member of Rock Springs Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son, Joe Reed Branton of Lufkin; granddaughter, Courtney Reed Branton of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Marvin McKown of Mesquite, Paula and Jim Horton of Nacogdoches; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, George Branton; and sister, Mary Mead.
