Liddie Nerren

Funeral services for Liddie Nerren, 82, of Central, will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elton Musick and Brother Steve Cowart officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Nerren was born August 6, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Dora Alice (Nobles) and Jim Crowder Dixon, and died Thursday, March 21, 2019 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Nerren was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. She graduated from Central High School and Massey Business School, and retired from TxDOT following 32 years of employment. Mrs. Nerren was a member of Grace Baptist Church (Clawson Baptist when she joined) for most of her life. She sang in the choir and directed the children’s choir for many years, and was always very active in the church until recent years. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Dixie and David Haskins of Lufkin, Randy and Sabrina Nerren of Pollok, and Lisa and George Owens of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Eric Haskins, Hunter Nerren, Jessica and Chip Kelley, and Justin and Laura Plopper; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Joy Parker of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Yonnie Dixon of Pollok, Georgia Helen Palmore of Lufkin, and Jackie Parker of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Wayne Nerren on January 1, 2019; grandson, Dakota Shane Nerren; great-granddaughter, Zoe Grace Trevino; and five siblings.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Nerren, Justin Plopper, Chip Kelley, Trace Haskins, Cody Parker and Pat Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to Sarah Reed, B.J. Adams, Rita Ferguson, Emily Holman, and Judy Carrell. You all cared for and loved her as if she were your own mother. You are all a part of our family now. We love you and will be eternally grateful to you for making her last months happy ones.

To Miss Jackie, Liz, Connie, Matt, Twin, Jessica, Vanessa, Jennifer, Shae, Justina, Brenda, Melody, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Koch, Chaplain Elgena, Chaplain Mike, and everyone else at Hospice in the Pines Inpatient, you are all angels on earth. Your compassion and the care you provided not only to her but to us as well will never be forgotten. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making her last 11 days on this earth peaceful, comfortable and pain-free. We love you and you will never be forgotten.
