Lester Bernard Walker Tutt

Funeral services for Lester Bernard Walker Tutt, 72, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2500 N. Raguet Street, Lufkin, with Brother Dwayne McClelland officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Tutt was born April 30, 1950 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Jesse Lee (Tutt) and Jay Walker, and died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Tutt was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and a 1970 graduate of Dunbar High School. He attended Prairie View A&M University on a basketball scholarship. Mr. Tutt played city league basketball with the Blue Chippers. He was employed with Dixon Furniture for 20 years and worked in maintenance at Inez Tims Apartments from 2008-2013. He also owned and operated Tutt Enterprise for 20 years, as well as Tutt Catering Service with his wife for more than 20 years.

Mr. Tutt was a people person and loved the elderly. He loved doing his yardwork and had a beautiful yard. He loved his antique trucks and enjoyed watching westerns, listening to music, sitting on his deck, and traveling the world with his family. His pride and joy was his son Corey.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Edna (Washington) Tutt of Lufkin; sons, Corey Washington Tutt and Kevin Lomax, both of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tommie and Arthur Johnson, Sr. and Valerie and Kenneth Ferguson, all of Houston; niece, LaShell Johnson Matthews of Houston; nephews, Arthur Johnson, Jr. and Ja’Mail and Natasha Johnson; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by parents; grandparents, Tommie and Alzee Tutt; sister, Jennie Walker Foster; and brother, Curtis J. Walker.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Washington, Ricky Washington, Larry Washington, Charles McClendon, Arthur Johnson, Jr., Ja’Mail Johnson, Wesley Dodd, and Stedman Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers will be George “Sang” Hicks, Sr., Robert McGee and the Blue Chippers, Dunbar Class of 1970, Ardie Dixon and the employees of Dixon Furniture, and Larry Hamilton.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Carlton Lewis, Hospice in the Pines, Dixon Furniture, Mark Oliver and Oliver Plumbing, Larry Hamilton, Arthur Joe, Sr. for all the trips to and from Houston, Tommy Washington, Ricky Washington, Larry Washington, Stedman Edwards, Linda Wade, Elma Washington, Courtney Dodd, Wesley Dodd, Kaitlyn and Eric Carter, Jasiel and Lauryn Dragustinovis, Clyde and Etta Hurd, and Dwayne and Gail McClelland.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
