Funeral services for Larry Gene Siegert, 81, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Assembly of God with Pastor Tanner Crawford officiating, along with Andrew James and Pastor D.R. McNaughton. Interment will follow at Wallace Chapel Cemetery. Larry would love it if everyone would wear either maroon or purple and gold.

Mr. Siegert was born March 23, 1944 in Columbus, Texas to the late Elsie Sophie (Niemeyer) and Frank Hoover Siegert, and died Sunday, September 14, 2025 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Siegert was an avid sports enthusiast. He never missed a Lufkin Panther football game, or a Hudson Hornets softball or Hudson Hornets basketball game until his wife’s health declined. He had an intense love for the Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a loyal man. He retired from Brookshire Brothers after 44 dedicated years. He was married to his late wife for 56 years, and they attended the same church for their entire marriage. He served as secretary/treasurer of Bethel Assembly of God for over 40 years.

Survivors include his children and spouses, Yonnie and Michael Derr of Nacogdoches, Lawayne Siegert of Bay City, Krystal and Mark Pfiester of Lebanon, Indiana, and Darla and David Townsend of Pollok; grandchildren, Brittany Dunnahoe, Alisha Derr, Rachel Derr, Benjaman Townsend (Pam), and James Townsend (Morgan); eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Nell (Baty) Siegert; son, Douglas Allen Siegert; and sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Ray Miller.

Pallbearers will be Steven Nerren, James Wright, Edward Norman, Daniel Watson, Benton Reynolds, and Stephen Shoemake.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Karina Urquia, Dr. Sunil Cherry, and Dr. Ilyas Khan for their care over the years; special thanks to Haley Vick, nurse at Larkspur, the wonderful nursing staff at Kennedy Healthcare for the care and compassion that was given, and the staff of Harbor Hospice.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Building Fund, 3863 Ted Trout Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904. There will also be a family funded scholarship, the Larry Siegert Scholarship, that will provide scholarship(s) to the Hudson Hornets Sports Program. Contributions to the scholarship fund may be sent via Venmo: @Lawayne-Siegert or CashApp: $LawayneSiegert.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.

One of the last things he said as his words of wisdom for future generations was “Obey the Lord and your parents and you’ll live a long life”.
