Larry Dean Pritchett

March 28, 1961 — January 18, 2026

Huntington, TX

Larry Dean Pritchett, 64, of Huntington died Sunday, January 18, 2026 at his residence. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Larry was born March 28, 1961 in Anaheim, California to Beverly June (Vaughan) and Robert Henry Pritchett. Formerly of Houston, he had resided in Huntington for 6 years.

As child and adolescent, Larry lived in Artesia, California with his family, where he enjoyed the outdoors, sports and activities. He later moved with his family to Pasadena, Texas where he attended South Houston High school and graduated in 1979. Soon after graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he spent almost 10years. He enjoyed the Navy and spending time at sea. He later Married and soon after became a proud father of 3 boys, living in Cincinnati, Ohio. His journey away from home with the Navy prevented him from being home with his boys so he retired and began his career with USPS. After his divorce he then transferred to Houston, Texas. He retired early from USPS with a disability and settled in Huntington, Texas, near to his mother, father, sister, brother, and his brother’s wife. After retiring he underwent a double lung transplant that extended his life for more than 7 years. Larry was truly grateful to the donor and his family and had a great relationship with them. He was also very appreciative of the Methodist Hospital transplant team of medical professionals. His favorite pastime was online gaming (long distance - Cincinnati) with all 3 of his boys. The last few years of his life was spent successfully living out his dream of traveling the U.S. and visiting all 48 contiguous states in his custom van he designed and had built.

Larry was a kind, generous, and very patient person. He followed his Christian faith and loved everyone and was always compelled to help others. Larry was well liked by others and had many friends.

We will carry out Larry’s wish to be cremated, and his ashes be spread over the ocean with a full military funeral honors and committal service.

Survivors include his sons, Chad Pritchett of Fairfield, Ohio, Brandon Pritchett of Columbus, Ohio, and Cameron Pritchett of Fairfield, Ohio; mother, Beverly Pritchett of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Lori Pritchett of Huntington; sister, Brenda Dean of Pasadena; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Henry Pritchett.
