Larry Travis Lunsford

Funeral services for Larry Travis Lunsford, 74, of Pollok will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Van Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Flat Cemetery.

Mr. Lunsford was born December 26, 1948 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Flossie (Coats) and A.C. Lunsford, and died Sunday, August 20, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Lunsford served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Lufkin Industries following 35 years of employment as a machinist. Mr. Lunsford was very personable and made many friends at work. He always felt a duty to include everyone and lifted people up when they were down. He took care of his family, making sure everyone got what they wanted. Mr. Lunsford was a great cook and could make anything. His chicken wings were of particular note for being especially good. He loved history and was known for being a real buff. He loved to bow hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen (Haak) Lunsford; daughters and son-in-law, Emily and Larry Duke, Stephanie and Michael Hicks, and Jennifer Kleiman; stepdaughters and son-in-law, Nicole Gindratt, and Brandi and Alan Berger; grandchildren, Holly Ann Hawkins, Darren Wicker, Shelbie Wicker, Blake Collins, Madison Kleiman, Faith Kleiman, Sarah Kleiman, and Evander Mahand; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Bobby Dennis, Martin Haak, and John Haak; sister-in-law, Debbie Haak; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Lunsford.

Pallbearers will be Allen Lunsford, Michael Lunsford, Jerry Miller, Justin Wilson, and Jimmy Ferguson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
