Funeral services for Larry J. “Bud” Fowler, 79, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kent Childers officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Fowler was born August 5, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Maudis N. (Williams) and Wallace Clark Fowler, and died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Fowler was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and retired from Altom where he was a truck driver. He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on old cars and RVs. He also liked to fish. Mr. Fowler was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth C. (Martin) Fowler of Lufkin; sons, Larry Wayne Fowler of Nacogdoches, Joe Keith Fowler, Jeffery Lloyd McMurray, both of Lufkin, and Brandon Martin and wife Mary of Logansport, Louisiana; daughters, Lori Fowler of Houston, Larren Volden and husband Coby of Lubbock, and Amanda Fowler of Joaquin; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Fowler and wife Linda of Diboll and Kent Fowler of Pollok; best friends, Cutter Wright of Hudson and Tom Flemings of La Poyner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Lee Fowler.
Pallbearers will be Brad Kendrick, Chris Kendrick, Cody Fowler, Gage Richey, Kevin Thigpen, and Jacob Hopper.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services.
