Funeral services for LaQuita Dickey, 63, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dwayne Thornton and Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Colmesneil.
LaQuita was born December 26, 1955 in Jasper, Texas to Flora Nell (Perkins) and the late Walter Brady Durham, and died Saturday, May 11, 2019 in a local hospital.
LaQuita attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She served as a Mental Health Specialist for over 15 years, working at both the Burke Center and Lufkin State Supported Living Center. She could also be found by her husband’s side running their business, Angelina Glass. Her daughters remember her being a loving mother and grandmother, and cherish the memories of the amazing birthday parties their mother always gave them. LaQuita enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking and singing, but her greatest happiness came from caring for and loving her family. LaQuita attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Jack Dickey of Lufkin; daughters, Micha Seeburg and husband Robert of El Paso, Leigh Gager of Lufkin, and Lindsey Gager of Topeka, Kansas; son, Kevin Dickey and wife Billie of Lufkin; grandchildren, Andrew Brandenburg, Evan Isaias, Presley Gager, Liddie Haskins, Katherine Seeburg, Ayden Haskins, and Chloe Gager; mother, Flora Nell Durham of Lufkin; sister, Nelda Leatham and husband Bill of Colmesneil; brother, Lloyd Durham and wife Stacey of Colmesneil; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father; grandsons, R.J. Seeburg and Brady J. Williams; brothers, Earl Durham and Charles Michael Durham; and sister, Johnna Durham.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Durham, Jonathan Durham, Rory Perkins, Larry Collins, Kevin Dickey, and Clyde Graham.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Youth Department or the Awana’s Fund, 2005 Ford Chapel Road, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
