Lanny Ross Verner, Sr.

Memorial services for Lanny Ross Verner, Sr., 80, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bobby Ryan officiating.

Mr. Verner was born January 23, 1938 in Commerce, Texas to the late Grace (Brookshire) and Bill Verner, and passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 in Springfield, Virginia.

Mr. Verner was a car salesman in Lufkin for many years. An avid hunter and fisherman, he spent part of his adult life as a professional bass fisherman. He also enjoyed coaching and cheering on his grandsons in their athletic endeavors – drawing from his experience and time as a collegiate athlete at Texas Christian University. Mr. Verner was a member of Pine Valley Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Angel Verner Hutchinson and husband Kevin of Lavon; son, Lanny “Ross” Verner, Jr. and wife Lexi of Glencoe, Illinois; grandchildren, Ross Hutchinson and wife Kelly of Waxahachie, Clint Hutchinson of Wichita, Kansas, Colton Hutchinson of Denton, Chadd Hutchinson and wife Taylor of Josephine, Sydney Verner of Austin, Jordan Verner of College Station, and Landon Ross Verner of Glencoe, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Cason Hoss and Haddley Hunter; and a number of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Barbara Verner.
