Lanell Ballard

A Celebration of Life for Lanell Ballard, 78, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Cross Timbers Cowboy Church with Pastor Ford Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.

Lanell Ballard was born to JC Murphy and Evelyn Murphy Tims in Camden, Texas on March 13, 1947. She went to join the Lord December 21, 2025.

Lanell is survived by her husband of 52 years, Carl Ballard; her son, Gregory Russell and his wife, Jody Russell, and great-grandson, Collin Maurey; her daughter, Greta and her husband Michael Anderson; her grandson, Jake Russell; her grandson, Russell Still and Emily Still, great-granddaughter, Sadie, and great-grandsons, G.W. and Eli, Rhett Still and Samantha, great-granddaughters, Westlynn, Jarah and Presley, and great-grandson, Rustin; grandson, Case Russell and Alahna Russell; granddaughter, Caroline Russell; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Ballard. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by JC Murphy (father), Evelyn Tims (mother), Delores Russell (sister), X.Z. “Speedy” Ballard and Lois Ballard (father and mother-in-law).

As believers in Jesus Christ, her family yearns for the day we meet again on the celestial shores or the streets of gold. We cherish memories of her as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and so much more, including decades of service at Lufkin Independent School District.

Pallbearers will be Chad Modisette, Rhett Still, Case Russell, Michael Anderson, Josh Martin, Koty Russell, and Chris Lamon.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Cross Timbers Cowboy Church.
