Funeral services for LaMerl Maddux, 88, of Huntington will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Jeremiah Moss officiating. Interment will follow in the Simpson Cemetery.
Mrs. Maddux was born February 22, 1931 in Rusk, Texas to the late Sarah (Manley) and James Edwin Thompson, and on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at her residence, Mrs. Maddux’s Lord took her to Paradise to be with Him.
Mrs. Maddux resided in Lufkin most of her life. She played basketball and was Drum Major at Lufkin High School. Mrs. Maddux loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd Daniel and Aline Maddux of Lufkin and Michael C. and Rhonda Maddux of Huntington; grandchildren, Ashley, Jamie, Kenny, Chris, Jaclyn, Shannon, Mattelynn, and Thomas; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Maddux; daughter, Patricia Carrington; and brother, Kenneth Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Flint Thompson, Kendall Bryant, Jamie “Bullet” Tidwell, Matt Thompson, Chris Maddux, and Cody Tidwell.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
