Larry Gene Marshall

Funeral services for Larry Gene Marshall, 64, of Zavalla will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jackson Colwell officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

Mr. Marshall was born December 21, 1952 in Jasper, Texas to the late Opal Faye (Hopson) and Claude Fonzy Marshall, Sr., and died Monday, December 18, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Marshall was a lifetime resident of Zavalla. He served in the U.S. Navy and was the Public Works Director for the City of Zavalla for 26 years. Mr. Marshall was a member of the Angelina Masonic Lodge #1263 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR. Mr. Marshall was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Donna Gale of Zavalla; daughters, Julie Williams and Jennifer Marshall Mitchell and husband Ronnie, all of Zavalla; grandchildren, Payton and husband Tyler, Chance, Corbin, Joshua, Jr., Logan, Colby, Callie Jo, Annie, Laura Jean, Eli, and David; great-grandson, Axton; sisters, Joyce Faye Ingle and husband Bobby of Houston and Cheryl Sanders and husband Gaston of Houston; brother, Mike Marshall of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Doil Jean Marshall of Zavalla; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Claude Marshall, Jr.; and sister, Charlotte Marie Blair.

Pallbearers will be George Cryer, Sr., Jess Williams, Bobby Ingle, Mike Blair, Jr., Chase Marshall, and Timmy Jordy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Mitchell, Jerry Campbell, and Joseph Cornelius.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Concord Missionary Baptist Church.
