L. A. Wilkie, Sr.

Funeral services for L. A. Wilkie, Sr., 80, of Huntington will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Keith Stanley and Pastor Laura Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Mr. Wilkie was born December 8, 1937 in Houston, Texas to the late Elsie (Alber) and James Earl Wilkie, and died Monday, December 11, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Wilkie had resided in Huntington for 40 years and was a Diesel Mechanic for Rush Peterbilt for over 20 years. He was a loving husband, a great dad and Papa. He loved to fish. Mr. Wilkie loved the Lord and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Wilkie; daughters, Barbie (Wilkie) and husband Jim Hall Sr. and Sarah (Wilkie) Hlavaty and husband Marvin Hlavaty; daughter-in-law, Patricia Sanders Wilkie, and son, Jimmy Wilkie and wife Anna; grandchildren, Bridgett Ferguson and husband Richard, Jim Hall, Jr. and wife Chelson, Starla McKay and husband Nathan, Jason Perkins and wife Sue Ann, Douglas Wilkie and wife Terri, Alan Wilkie and wife Staci, Josh Wilkie and wife Kristyn, Blake Wilkie and wife Brandy, Amber Salmon and husband Glenn, Johnathan Wilkie, Henry Nerren and wife Jami, Justin Nerren, and adopted grandson Mark Christain; 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Helen Whigham and nephew Lee Powell and wife Michelle of New Mexico; brother-in-laws, Sonny Lee and wife Pat, Roy Jones, Jr. and wife Pat, all of Houston; five nephews; two nieces; and lots of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Katherine Wilkie and son, Baby Boy Wilkie; son, L.A. Wilkie, Jr.; grandson, Cory Wilkie; granddaughter, Christy Nerren; and grandson, Dustin Nerren and girlfriend Kayla.

Pallbearers will be Paul McDaniel, Jim Hall, Jr., Jason Perkins, Josh Wilkie, Blake Wilkie, Alan Wilkie, Douglas Wilkie, and Jesse Haugen.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
