Mr. Largent was born November 22, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Anneliese (Kastner) and William Largent, and died Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in a local hospice facility.

Kervin Largent lived his life to the fullest, never missed an opportunity for a big laugh (or wheeze), and loved his friends and family with everything he had. He was a big man with a big heart, and was truly one of the most talented men you could ever meet.

Starting from a young age, Kervin was a gifted athlete. He excelled at baseball, and played for the varsity team at Hudson High School all four years of his high school career. He went on to play catcher for Angelina College and set a new record for home runs that would stand for over 30 years. Kervin was also a gifted musician and singer. He loved singing country music as well as southern rock and roll, and could play anything with strings, the piano, and the drums.

All of these things were his hobbies, but his passion was his career, his family, and his pets. Kervin loved being a State Trooper as well as the brotherhood that came with his career. He served the state of Texas proudly, attaining the rank of Senior Corporal in the Lufkin Sub-District Office prior to his retirement after just over 30 years of dedicated service. However, Kervin loved his family most. He loved spending time with them fishing, watching his grandkids play, and anything that involved getting everyone together.

Kervin lived a life that most would not be brave enough to endure.  From a full career in law enforcement, to hundreds of stages in front of large crowds singing and playing any instrument that he decided he would pick up that day. Kervin’s charming smile and infectious laugh could brighten the darkest of rooms. His love and talents knew no boundaries, and his friends and family are forever thankful for him sharing them with us. Kervin was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberlie (Pritchard) Largent of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Kara Largent of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey and Matthew Courtney of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Brandi Higginbotham of Lufkin; son, Kris Bunn of Plano; grandchildren, Kynlee, Gunner and Charleigh Largent, and Ada Courtney; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Michelle Pritchard of Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Claudia and Roy Strother of Shreveport, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Alvis, Jake Metcalf, and Kevin DeJean.
