Funeral services for Kenneth Randolph McPherson Sr., 86, of Lufkin will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Pam Lundberg officiating. Interment will follow in Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
Ken McPherson was born to D.C. and Ardelle McPherson on September 15, 1938 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas.
Ken never met a stranger and loved his family through and through. Above all, he was a man of God and good faith. Ken was a member of Homer Methodist Church in Lufkin.
At 19 years old Ken earned a private pilot license at the University of Illinois before marrying Judith Strange on March 7, 1959 in Urbana, Illinois. The love he had for his wife was nothing short of beautiful. They moved to Lufkin, Texas in 1969 with their three children where Ken worked for Frito-Lay for 30 years and Kraft for 13 years.
After retirement, Ken and Judy spent time traveling and camping with the Good Sam’s club. Ken also enjoyed spending his time outdoors. Some of his favorite activities were hunting and fishing along with mowing his yard and gardening some of the best vegetables you could ever eat. Aside from the outdoors, he was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and loved Elvis Presley.
He was preceded in death by his parents D.C. McPherson, Jr. and Ardelle Swaim McPherson.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Judy McPherson of Lufkin; daughter, Vanessa Bridges of Lufkin; son, Kenneth McPherson Jr. and wife Melanie of Moody, son, David McPherson and wife Pam of Lufkin; granddaughter, Kacie Smith and husband Brandon of Garland; grandson, Shane Bridges and wife Madison of Killeen; grandson, Trey McPherson and wife Lisa of Kosse; grandson, Alex Saxton and wife Dusty of Moody; granddaughter, Kelcye Wallace and husband Jake of Diboll; grandson, Cortland McPherson and wife Marissa of Lufkin; grandson, Cutter McPherson of Lufkin; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 more expected in July.
Pallbearers are Shane Bridges, Trey McPherson, Cortland McPherson, Cutter McPherson, Duke Peeler, and Jalal Hatami.
Honorary pallbearers include C. Micheal Allen, Dave Shore, Jimmy Gangstead, and Lufkin Good Sam’s Camping Club.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home for visitation.
