Kenneth Ray Burnett

August 11, 1938 — April 29, 2018

A Celebration of Life Service for Kenneth Ray Burnett, 79, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lynches Chapel Cemetery in Cherokee County with Pastor Carl Lundberg officiating.

Mr. Burnett was born August 11, 1938 in Huntington, Texas to the late Velma (Griffith) and J. B. Burnett, and died Sunday, April 29, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mr. Burnett had resided in the Shawnee Prairie Community of Huntington for over 30 years and Diboll most of his life. He graduated from Diboll High School, attended Kilgore Jr. College and Lamar University. He was self-employed after retiring from Temple Inland. Mr. Burnett was a member of the Homer United Methodist church, 50 year member and past Worshipful Master of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M., Order of the Eastern Star #938, and a 50 year 32 nd Degree Houston Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Burnett loved the outdoors, fishing, raising a garden, but his passion was deer hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Salmon Burnett of Huntington; sons, Joe Brian Burnett and wife Jane Bone-Burnett of Austin; Phillip W. Burnett and wife Shawn Fowler Burnett of Huntington; daughter, Julie Anna Gray and husband Jeffery of Wylie; grandchildren, Chase Burnett and Shelby Burnett, both of Huntington, Rebecca Burnett and Katie Burnett, both of Austin, Emily Anna Gray, Marshall Scott Gray, and Lillian Rose Gray, all of Wylie; great-grandchildren, Brayden Burnett and Ellie Michelle Burnett, both of Huntington; sisters, Helen Burnett Temple and Betty Sue Burnett Barkley, both of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Ruby Neal Burnett of Terrell; brother, Sterling Burnett and wife Bobbie of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Milton Leo Burnett.

Expressions of sympathy in Kenneth’s memory may be made to Homer United Methodist Church, 5265 FM 326, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
