Katie Mae (Harris) Savala

Funeral services for Katie Mae (Harris) Savala, 73, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Joseph Collins and Brother Ruben Ayala officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. A reception will be held in the Carroway Family Reception Room following the interment.

Mrs. Savala was born December 16, 1944 in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late Elizabeth (Cooper) and John Harris, and died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her residence. She had resided in Lufkin for 40 years. Mrs. Savala enjoyed cooking, and loved to tell everyone how to do everything. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include her husband, Juan Manuel Savala of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Leisa Kay, Mary Miller Rangel, both of Lufkin, and Katie and William Watson of Nacogdoches; granddaughters, Annie Mobley, Kimberly Rangel, Jessica Warner, and Mika Rangel; great-grandchildren, Michael, Makayla, Alysa, Nyjel, Tyson, Lydia, Maliyah, and Esiah “Little RoRo”; sisters, Johnnie Ebarb of Lufkin, Leona Martin of Timpson, Joyce Hilton of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Sharlene Mullins of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Annie and Mary; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Ebarb and George Mullins.

Pallbearers will be William Watson, Hector Rangel, Johnathan Lumpkin, Oscar Zavala, Mario Contreras, and Carmen Rangel, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice in the Pines for their care of Mrs. Savala.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
