Kathy Griffith

Graveside services for Kathy Griffith, 61, of Huntington will be held Monday, June 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery with Brother Wes Matchett officiating.

Mrs. Griffith was born January 8, 1956 in Fort Lejeune, North Carolina to the late Delores (Coats) and G.W. Akers, and died Friday, June 16, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Griffith had resided in Huntington for 40 years. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking. She liked camping while Robert hunted, and enjoyed sitting on the porch watching birds, being with her dog “Miss D”, and watching Robert work in the yard.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Griffith of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Chris Johnson of Huntington; son, Shannon Golden of Cullman, Alabama; grandchildren, Jordan Golden of Huntington, Skylor Matchett of Austin, Sydney Matchett, Cody Johnson, Caleb Johnson, and Derrick Kinney, all of Huntington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melody and Gary Wadell of Pasadena and Tandi and Jeff Garner of Friendswood; brothers and sisters-in-law, Skip and Patty Wood of Highlands, Kenneth and Casey Akers of Deer Park, and George and Lynn Akers of Killeen; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Vince Menefee, Sammy Kirkland, Josh Robbins, Kris Kirkland, Jeffery Griffith, and Clint Haliburton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Kirkland and Joe Hopkins.
