Memorial services for Kathleen Helen Ina (Ross) Bailey, 87, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kent Childers officiating. A private burial of cremains will be held in Whitehouse Cemetery at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bailey was born July 24, 1937 on the Black Isle of Scotland to the late Flora Cross (Fraser) and James John Ross, and died Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at her residence in Lufkin, Texas.

Kathleen Helen Ina Ross Bailey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She married the love of her life, Franklin Norris Bailey, on September 22, 1956. During their 68 years of marriage, his military career stationed them in Welford, England; Castle Air Force Base, California; Offutt AFB, Nebraska; and Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon his military retirement they relocated to Lufkin, Texas where they made their home and developed lifelong friends. Kathleen was known to be a woman of strength, humor, love, and faith-in-family that never slipped. She poured her heart into many activities that included baking and knitting, many times giving these items as gifts. She was an avid sports fan of tennis, baseball, and bowling. Her home is filled with precious memories shared together in family photos and art.

Survivors include her husband, Franklin Norris Bailey of Lufkin; son, Kevin L. Bailey and wife Lisa M. of Garland, Texas; daughter, Karen M. Atkinson of Seattle, Washington; son, Keith J. Bailey and wife LaDonna “Dee” of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Christopher Grant Bailey of Apple Springs, Gregory Brett and Kaye Bailey of Kansas City, Kansas, Ryan K. and Alyssa Atkinson of Tampa Bay, Florida, Anna K. and Jonathan Kull of Sedro Woolley, Washington, Meghan M. and Jonathan Holst of Pacifica, California; great-grandchildren, Eleanor K. Kull, Hermione “Mia” K. Bailey, Gideon F. Atkinson, Vivian J. Atkinson, Alexandra F. Atkinson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Peg Poole, Jess McKenzie, Marie McIver; and brothers, Ronald Ross, James Ross, Charles Ross, and Gregor Ross.

The family extends their sincere thanks to all the devoted caretakers, especially to Tyisha Tanner, Debra Washington, and Cedriyah Holman, whose exceptional care and gentleness aided in a peaceful passing. Special thanks go to Affinity Hospice staff who enveloped her with love and compassion, especially within the last few weeks of her life.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
