Karen Bass-Dutton

Memorial services for Karen Bass-Dutton, 58, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Family Church with Pastor Leo Lytle and Brother Jack Williams officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Karen Bass-Dutton was born January 21, 1965 in Lufkin, Texas. In 1967 she became the beloved daughter of Vic and Sheila Bass. She passed from this life Friday, December 1, 2023 in Lufkin.

Karen graduated from Diboll High School, attended college for medical document training and worked as a medical clerk until her retirement. After growing up in Texas she lived in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Nebraska. Her daughter, Marla Redd, was born while she lived in Arkansas.

She met her husband Paul Dutton - her best friend of a lifetime - in California and the two quickly became inseparable, even until she took her last breath while in his compassionate and loving care. Their life together began in California and later brought her back home to Texas. Karen was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Dutton of Lufkin; daughter, Marla Redd of Denton; grandchild, A. Redd of Denton; parents, Vic and Sheila Bass of Diboll; brothers, Richard Bass of Cleveland, Glenn Bass of Horseshoe Bay, and Mark Willis of Diboll; nephews, Edward Bass, Zeke Bass, both of Horseshoe Bay, and Jonathan Bolin of Minnesota; great-niece, Sage Russell of Highland Haven; many other uncles, aunts, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Auggie.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and aunt, Gayle Crager.
